ESET has teamed up with EVC Group to enhance Europe’s cyber and energy resilience by developing next-generation battery energy storage systems. This strategic partnership aims to introduce CyberSec BESS, a new line of cyber-secure battery energy storage solutions tailored for the European market. As battery storage becomes crucial in supporting power grids and critical energy infrastructures, cybersecurity is increasingly seen as a vital component, alongside performance and reliability.
The partnership was cemented through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), laying the groundwork for the development, certification, and commercialization of CyberSec BESS. The initiative debuted on June 25, 2026, at Intersolar Europe in Munich, a leading event focused on renewable energy, energy storage, and related technologies. This project is designed to comply with both current and forthcoming European Union cybersecurity regulations, aiming to bolster the long-term resilience of critical energy systems.
CyberSec BESS seeks to blend European cybersecurity expertise with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, ESET’s Chief Corporate Solutions Officer, emphasized that battery storage is now integral to modern energy infrastructures and should have cybersecurity integrated from inception. He highlighted the initiative as a chance to leverage ESET’s extensive experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure, thus preparing the energy sector for current and future cyber threats.
Oliver Garaj, Managing Director of EVC Group, underscored the importance of a comprehensive systems approach to resilient energy infrastructure, rather than merely combining individual technologies. He stated that this collaboration merges engineering expertise, advanced energy technologies, and stringent cybersecurity standards to create battery storage systems that prioritize security, transparency, operational reliability, and robust performance. These qualities are expected to gain importance as Europe’s energy sector continues to evolve and modernize.
According to the Frost Radar™: Endpoint Security, 2025 by Frost & Sullivan, ESET is recognized as the largest global cybersecurity provider headquartered in Europe. The company delivers AI-driven cybersecurity solutions for businesses, individuals, and critical infrastructures across various environments, backed by advanced threat intelligence and security measures. Through its partnership with EVC Group, ESET aims to reinforce Europe’s energy resilience while supporting the secure deployment of next-generation battery storage technologies.
