New Zealand has revised its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates, reducing its warning level from 3 to 2, thus encouraging travelers to exercise increased caution rather than avoiding non-essential travel. This adjustment opens the door for New Zealanders to visit or transit through the UAE with heightened awareness of potential security changes.
New Zealand Ambassador to the UAE Richard Kay expressed approval of the updated guidance, highlighting that citizens can once again explore the travel opportunities in or through the UAE. This development aligns with the UAE’s efforts to rejuvenate its international tourism sector, which faced setbacks due to regional conflicts.
The easing of restrictions comes at a time when Dubai is experiencing a resurgence in tourism. August saw Dubai welcoming 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly visitor count since February. Additionally, hotel occupancy rates have seen a significant increase, rising to 66 percent in August from 36 percent in March.
The UAE is actively working to encourage other nations to relax their travel advisories, aiming to bolster its recovering tourism and aviation industries. While some countries have already softened their warnings, others still advise caution or limit non-essential travel.
The change in New Zealand’s travel advisory is expected to boost travel demand between the two nations, contributing to the UAE’s continued recovery in its tourism sector.
