UAE Denounces Iran’s Assault on Kuwait, Pledges Gulf Unity Support

Published:

The United Arab Emirates has denounced Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes on Kuwait, labeling them as acts of terrorism. UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed communicated this condemnation during a phone call with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Sabah. This conversation also covered various regional developments and the security situation in light of the attacks.

Kuwait has confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted the threatening missiles and drones, ensuring residents that the loud explosions heard were due to these successful defensive actions. In expressing UAE’s solidarity with Kuwait, Sheikh Abdullah assured that the UAE stands fully behind any actions taken to ensure Kuwait’s security and stability. He further emphasized the interconnectedness of Kuwait’s security with that of the UAE and the broader Gulf region.

This incident unfolds amidst ongoing diplomatic interactions between the United States and Iran. Although US officials have noted progress in these discussions, any resulting agreement is still pending confirmation. The situation highlights the complex dynamics at play in the region, with security concerns remaining a high priority for Gulf states.

Additionally, the tensions extend to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has taken issue with recent US statements about shipping activities in this critical waterway, criticizing them as unlawful and counter to international norms. These developments reflect a broader regional apprehension about maintaining security and stability, even as diplomatic efforts continue amid increased military tensions.

In light of these challenges, the UAE’s support for Kuwait illustrates the shared regional concerns over security and the commitment to protecting the Gulf’s stability. As diplomatic channels remain open, the balance between military readiness and diplomatic engagement continues to shape the region’s strategic landscape.
