The United Arab Emirates has expressed support for the United States’ call for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan. This move underscores the UAE’s commitment to international efforts to end the ongoing conflict and facilitate a political settlement leading to a civilian government in the country.
UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Sudan. He highlighted the necessity of halting hostilities and initiating a comprehensive political dialogue to resolve the conflict.
In line with these efforts, the UAE has advocated for the expansion of the current United Nations arms embargo to cover the entirety of Sudan. The UAE believes that such a measure could help reduce the influx of weapons, thereby offering greater protection to civilians.
