The United Arab Emirates and Greece have signed agreements worth over €12.75 billion, enhancing their economic ties through the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum in Athens. Held during the official visit of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the forum also saw the announcement of an additional €15 billion investment initiative by the UAE to further strengthen long-term economic cooperation between the two nations.
The agreements, detailed in 18 memoranda of understanding, span various sectors, including digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and food security. These collaborations aim to foster private sector investment, generate business opportunities, and bolster commercial relations between the UAE and Greece.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi were present at the forum, alongside senior officials and business representatives. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the mutual confidence in the UAE-Greece partnership, emphasizing the importance of translating investment commitments into practical projects that drive sustainable economic growth.
The forum underscored the complementary nature of the two economies, with the UAE serving as a global hub for trade and investment and Greece acting as a gateway to European markets. This strategic cooperation is expected to help businesses from both countries expand into Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Discussions at the event also focused on enhancing food security through resilient supply chains and expanding partnerships in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Investment-matching sessions and business-to-business meetings facilitated the exploration of joint ventures and the establishment of new commercial partnerships.
The agreements and proposed investments reflect a concerted effort by the UAE and Greece to deepen economic ties, diversify cooperation, and promote growth led by the private sector across key industries.
