UAE Reports No Ebola Cases Despite Infected Traveler’s Transit

Published:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that there are no cases of Ebola within its borders, following the diagnosis of the virus in a traveler who passed through the country en route to Uganda. Health authorities have identified the individual as a Congolese national who transited through the UAE before arriving in Uganda, where the Ebola infection was subsequently confirmed.

Officials emphasized that the traveler did not seek medical attention or visit healthcare facilities while in the UAE. In response, the Ministry of Health and Prevention is collaborating closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) to implement precautionary measures. These include risk assessments, contact tracing, and enhanced health monitoring, all in adherence to international health standards.

The current Ebola outbreak is primarily affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, according to health officials. The WHO maintains that the global public health threat posed by the outbreak remains low.

As a safety measure, the UAE has advised its citizens and residents to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas, namely the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, while keeping a close watch on the situation.

Ebola is a highly infectious viral disease transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids from an infected person. Symptoms range from fever and fatigue to more severe manifestations such as vomiting, diarrhea, and in extreme cases, organ failure and internal bleeding.
