Arab Trading Volume Jumps 28.8% in July; Transaction Values Fall.

Published:

In July, Arab stock markets witnessed a substantial surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded rising by 28.82% compared to June, although the overall transaction value experienced a decline. The total trading volume soared to 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares in the previous month. This growth was primarily driven by the Iraq Stock Exchange, followed closely by Egypt.

Despite the heightened trading volume, the value of transactions fell by 16.82%, dropping to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. Significant declines were observed in several major markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, contributing to the overall reduction in transaction values.

The performance of regional stock markets varied, with Egypt’s EGX30 index emerging as a notable performer, posting a gain of 5.85% during the month. Other regional exchanges also recorded positive performances, indicating a mixed trend across the Arab equity markets.

Meanwhile, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable, with a slight increase of 0.06%, bringing the total to approximately $4.31 trillion. These figures underscore the increase in trading activity across the region, despite the challenges of lower transaction values and diverse performances among major markets.
