South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority Chairman Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak held discussions on Friday at Cheong Wa Dae, focusing on enhancing cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting underscored the two nations’ commitment to developing a long-term partnership following President Lee’s state visit to the UAE last November.
President Lee expressed gratitude for the UAE’s support in prioritizing crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year in March. He emphasized the importance of expanding collaborative efforts in various sectors, including defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and culture. Lee advocated for more robust communication between officials from both countries to transform these collaborative intentions into tangible projects.
During the meeting, Al Mubarak conveyed greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and reaffirmed the UAE’s view of South Korea as a close partner. He highlighted that bilateral cooperation has extended beyond the traditional realms of energy and infrastructure to encompass investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education.
This high-level meeting is seen as laying the groundwork for further discussions between the two countries, with expectations of a potential summit in South Korea next month. Such engagements are anticipated to further cement the strategic partnership between South Korea and the UAE, encompassing a broad spectrum of areas for mutual benefit.
