UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has underscored the necessity of combating extremism to effectively eradicate terrorism and ensure regional security. Addressing the issue on his official X account, Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that confronting extremist ideologies is essential alongside direct counterterrorism measures.

His comments came in the wake of a fatal shooting at Hamoud Church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, which resulted in multiple casualties. The UAE has strongly condemned the attack, reiterating its stance against terrorism, extremism, and all forms of violence that jeopardize public safety and regional stability.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its solidarity with Jordan, highlighting the importance of bolstering efforts to prevent extremist violence and safeguard communities. Sheikh Abdullah’s statement reflects the UAE’s commitment to addressing the root causes of terrorism by focusing on the ideologies that fuel such violence.

By stressing the interconnectedness of extremism and terrorism, Sheikh Abdullah’s remarks point to a broader strategy that seeks not only to curb acts of terror but also to dismantle the ideologies that underpin them. This approach underscores the UAE’s dedication to fostering long-term security and stability in the region.
